Our Muirhall site is located in the Clydesdale area of central Scotland, on open plateau ground between the villages of Auchengray and Tarbrax. In January 2008 the windfarm was granted planning approval by South Lanarkshire Council after a period of 34 months in the planning system, and started construcion in March 2010.
Through an innovative partnership arrangement with Lomond Energy, the project is unique in that it is the first windfarm in the area to be developed independently by a local landowner not only to diversify his and three neighbouring farms, but also to help develop the local community’s needs through a significant community benefit package worth almost £50,000 per year. Finance came from the Co-op Bank, with equity from the Ventus Funds.
The six RePower MM92 turbines were completed in December 2010 and are now producing clean, green electricity.
