Boghead Farm (2) Wind Turbine

Boghead Farm (2) Wind Turbine was developed by Lomond Energy and was successfully granted planning permission by South Lanarkshire Council in June 2015. It is located adjacent to our consented Boghead Wind Turbine and the project proposes to use and share the same site entrance and access track.

The wind turbine will be a maximum height to blade tip of 67m above ground level with a 40m hub height and with a maximum generating capacity of 500kW, equivalent to the annual electrical consumption of approximately 250 homes.

The project initially proposed a wind turbine with a maximum blade tip height of 77m above ground level however Glasgow Airport objected due to concerns that the movement of the wind turbine blades may have been visible to its operating radar. Further consultation with the Airport resulted in a reduction in height by 10m and the successful removal of its objection.

The site is located within gently undulating agricultural fields used for rough grazing and pasture which can be continued throughout the construction and operational phases of the project.
