Green light for our first 500kW FiT turbine

Lomond Energy is pleased to announce its first planning success for a single 500kW wind turbine in North Lanarkshire on behalf of dedicated feed-in-tariff developer Temporis Wind.

The site at Wester Hassockrigg Farm is located to the south of junction 5 of the M8 motorway where consent has been secured for a turbine with a maximum height of 78m. Detailed site investigation and design will commence shortly with construction expected to take up to 3 months, after which the turbine is expected to be operating and producing clean, green electricity by Autumn 2012.

Within the framework of an innovative development consultancy arrangement Lomond Energy provides specialist technical, planning and project management services to Temporis Wind, a dedicated feed-in tariff wind developer now emerging as one of the UK’s most successful in this niche sector.

Lomond Energy’s project manager for the site, Keith Smith said;

“As a company familiar with developing much larger and more complex wind farm projects, we have successfully applied the same standards of quality and detail to the development of this single 500kW turbine as we do a 20MW wind farm, and we are delighted that this has been recognised by the planners and their consultees.  We are now supporting Temporis Wind on this project through to completion of construction and operation, and look forward to further success in developing its pipeline of single wind turbine sites throughout Scotland”.

He went on to say “Both Temporis Wind and Lomond Energy realise the important role developments such as this play in tackling climate change and contributing to the renewable energy targets set out by the Scottish and UK Governments”.
