Our Core Team

Our core team has a combined background totalling nearly 40 years of project development experience, including over 20 years working in the UK and US wind power industries, such that we are fully aware of the challenges that developers face in making projects happen.

From this experience we understand the detail involved in taking projects from the initial concept stage, through feasibility assessment to reality on the ground. This will involve financial viability studies, wind resource assessment, wind farm design and managing the environmental assessment process.

Steve Macken

Steve is a Chartered Engineer with over 16 years experience in the UK and US wind industries. Steve is a dedicated and thorough project manager with a wide range of technical and managerial skills gained in both the wind and aerospace industries.

Before co-founding Lomond Energy Steve worked for Scottish Power on  three major projects - Black Law, Whitelee and Harestanes - and before that for National Wind Power, now part of RWE/npowerRenewables, where he followed a successful UK career with two years in the USA developing joint venture wind farm projects.

Deborah Macken

Deborah is a Chartered Planning & Development Surveyor with over 20 years of project development experience in both the renewable energy and property sectors. Her particular areas of expertise are planning, site assembly, land agreements and other development issues. With strong project management and commercial skills Deborah's key focus for Lomond Energy is project planning and development.

KEITH SMITH

Keith graduated from Glasgow University with a BSc in Geography in 2007 and completed a Masters degree in Hydrology the following year. He went on to work as Graduate Water Engineer where he dealt with the production of flood risk and drainage impact assessments and hydrological modelling.

In 2010 Keith moved into the renewables industry and after gaining experience with a UK wind developer joined Lomond Energy in July of that year.   Keith supports our wind developments from feasibility through to completion, manages our GIS capabilities and focuses on the delivery of Lomond Energy’s consultancy services.
